Field events are clearly used as filler between track events. It was hugely frustrating to have a field final interrupted so we could rush back to a track heat!! In addition, the video archive for the National Championships contains 2 field event videos out of a total of 274 (that&#039;s 0.7%!) There was essentially no coverage of the Senior Men&#039;s High Jump competition - even though there were Olympic level athletes (Mike Mason) competing.  Also comments from the commentators that they were going to the field events &#039;while there was a break in the action&#039; clearly indicates that they don&#039;t see the field events as &#039;action&#039;.  My son is a high jumper and I am often forced to catch glimpses of him as the camera follows runners around the track.
